Visit by students of Kohinoor College of Paramedical Sciences

On 16th May, 2023, students of Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) course of Kohinoor College of Paramedical Sciences visited Indian Red Cross Society, Smt. Gopabai Damani Blood Center, Solapur as part of their curriculum and held interactive sessions with the lab technicians
World Red Cross Day celebrated on 8th May, 2023

On 8thMay 2023, the Indian Red Cross Society Solapur District Branch celebrated World Red Cross Day by organizing rangoli competition. Prizes were given to the participants of the competition. The Chief Guest of this function was the President of IMA, Solapur Dr. Kedar Kahate. On the occasion Chairman Dr. Rajiv Pradhan spoke about the Red Cross, Hon. Secretary Mr. Jayesh Patel spoke about the blood bank and Hon.Jt. Secretary Shri Khushal Dedhia gave a vote of thanks. Office bearers of Solapur Red Cross and Blood Centre’s staff were present.
Mobile Blood Collection Van of the Indian Red Cross Society, Solapur Branch was routed in various parts of Solapur city and total collection was from 19 blood donors.
On the occasion of World Thalassemia Day on May 9, 2023, IRCS Solapur District Branch celebrated by distributing food to the patients of Thalassemia Centre, at Smt. Gopabai Damani Blood Centre.Solapur.
The Thalassemia Centre was established in Solapur in 1987. Initially, the centre used to supply free blood to eight patients. At present, the centre is supplying free blood to 145 patients twice a month.
Patients come not only from Solapur but also from different parts of Solapur district. Some organizations in Solapur donate blood for these children through blood donation camps and blood donors.

Medical equipment and supplies donated to NTPC

On 17th April 2023, one oxygen concentrator, 4 Pulse Oxymeters and a box of sanitizers was donated to NTPC by Indian Red Cross Society's Damani Blood Centre, Solapur. General Manager of NTPC Shri. Goyal. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Mrs. Basu, Dr. Rajiv Pradhan, Hon. Chairman of Red Cross and Shri. Jayesh Patel, Hon. Secretary of Red Cross were present.
Awareness session on varied health subjects with Family Planning Association

On 7th April 2023 on the occasion of World Health Day, an awareness session on varied health subjects was organized by Indian Red Cross Society with Family Planning Association. Dr. Rajiv Pradhan – Chairman, IRCS, Solapur, Dr. Shrikant Yelegaonkar – Director, Dr. Shirish Kumthekar, and Dr. Srikant Kamatkar enlightened general health issues. Few NGOs in Solapur, staff of Gopabai Damani blood centre and of Family Planning Association were present in this program.
One day workshop for 60 teachers under a Comprehensive Sex Education program

On 16th March 2023 A one day workshop of ‘Training of Trainers’ for 60 teachers under a Comprehensive Sex Education program was organized by the Indian Red Cross Society, Solapur District Branch in association with Precision Foundation, Solapur and Family Planning Association of India. The workshop was inaugurated by Senior Medical Officer of Civil Hospital, Dr. Agraja VarerkarChitnis. The Chief Executive of the Hirachand Nemchand Library Dr. Srikant Yelegaonkar chaired the workshop. PRO of Precision Foundation Mr. Madhav Deshpande, Chairman of Family Planning Prof. K.M. Jamadar, Prof. Dr. B.N. Kamble, Adv. Teja Kulkarni, Dr. Rajiv Pradhan – Chairman, IRCS Solapur District Branch, Vaishali Bansode, Sameer Sayyed, Sugatratna Gaikwad of Solapur Branch were present.
Jaipur Foot Camp in collaboration with Ratnanidhi Foundation, Mumbai, Gujrati Mitra Mandal

On 12th & 13th March 2023Indian Red Cross Society, Solapur District Branch organised a Jaipur Foot Camp in collaboration with Ratnanidhi Foundation, Mumbai, Gujrati Mitra Mandal and Rotary Club of Solapur. In this camp 140 beneficiaries were fitted with Jaipur Foot.
HLA (Human Leukocyte Antigens) testing at subsidised rates for Thalassemia patients
(11th March 2023)
On 11th March 2023 Indian Red Cross Society’s Gopabai Damani Blood Centre, Solapur District Branch in collaboration with SRCC Children’s Hospital managed by Narayana Health, Mumbai started HLA (Human Leukocyte Antigens) testing at subsidised rates for Thalassemia patients requiring bone marrow transplant. Dr. Ruchira Mishra, (Sr. Dr. Ped. Hemto Oncology& BMT, SRCC Children’s Hospital) and Mr. Manmohan Dubey – Admin Dept., SRCC Children’s Hospital along with Office bearers of Red Cross Solapur were present. Total 13 Thalassemia patients including family siblings were tested. Overall 35 test done in this camp.
Voluntary Blood Donation camp at ReNew Power Pvt., Ltd, Hasapur village

On 6th March 2023 IRCS Smt. Gopabai Damani Blood Centre, Solapur organised a Voluntary Blood Donation camp at ReNew Power Pvt., Ltd, Hasapur village, Tal Akkalkot, Solapur. Total 32 units collected.
Children's Day celebration at the thalassemia centre
(14th November 2022)
On 14th November 2022 Children's Day was celebrated by cutting a cake and giving chocolates and rose flowers to the children of thalassemia centre of Indian Red Cross Society, Smt Gopabai Damani Blood Centre. In this program Dr Rita Somani of Blood Center conducted free sugar check-up for all thalassemia children. Office bearers of IRCS Solapur were present.
LN4 Artificial Hand camp at Solapur

On 25th September 2022 a " LN4 Artificial Hand" camp was organised by Indian Red Cross Society, Solapur District Branch in collaboration with Rotary Clubs of Solapur, Rotary Clubs of Osmanabad at the premises of our Indian Red Cross Society. Total 50 beneficiaries were fitted with artificial hands.
