Procedure for formation of District / Sub District Branches is laid down under https://www.indianredcross.org/uniform_rules.pdf including the elections, roles and responsibilities of the managing committee and the overall functioning of the District Branch. The Deputy Commissioner of the District or District Magistrate shall be the President of the District Branch and the Vice President shall be nominated by the President

The District Branches may form Sub- District Branches at Taluka level and local branches at Sub-Taluka level in accordance with the local needs on the same basis/ procedure adopted for the formation of a District Branch

Each District Branch is an independent entity for the purposes of all statutory compliances.

Our District Branches are our strength.12 of our State District / Sub District Branches operate Blood centres . Few Districts have been supported with Mobile blood collection vans, Mobile Health Unit and Mobile Testing Vans for community outreach activities by our National Head Quarters , New Delhi .

Other activities covered by our District Branches include running a school for the specially challenged & blind , hospitals, OPD'S, , shelter homes & old age homes , medical camps & awareness sessions including sanitation and hygiene, thalassemia screening and blood transfusion, counselling, First Aid and Disaster management training, livelihood programs and distribution of relief materials during natural calamities.

They also participate in National health programs of the Government of India
